Girls Matter Elementary Program Classroom, Florida
WorldLegacy NC 191 leaders stand for love in a responsible world. The team chose to manifest their vision by creating an extreme make-over of a Gregory Drive Elementary School classroom. This project was in conjunction with the Dolores Barr Weaver Policy Center, Girls’ Matter Elementary Program. With a newly upgraded classroom, the girls can begin to learn in a comfortable environment created specifically to support their needs. This project has created a place to learn and thrive for girls that have endured trauma in their young years. The classroom will be used for grades three – five. The room accommodates a weekly rotating group of five girls. The new learning environment will have the girls get that they matter and create a space where they can be their best. The classroom will have bright colors, new furniture, and educational equipment to assist them in improving their academic performance. The girls’ interest in their education will translate into the academic success that can result in entirely new possibilities for their lives. They will be able to dream big and reach for the stars!
The team painted the built-in bookshelf, the entry door, and a large cabinet. The classroom was equipped with twelve Fire HD 8 kids pro 8″ tablets, a wooden office desk, an ergonomic office chair, twenty-eight chairs, two large tables, two lockable filing cabinets, two commercial grade carpets, a microwave, a refrigerator, two white bookshelves, eight bean bag chairs and four dry erase tables.
Budget: $15,500 July 2022.
